MEET THE SPORTS CLUBS

WEST VANCOUVER TENNIS CLUB
The Club was established in 1925 and started out with only 3 clay courts and fewer than 50 members. Since then, it has grown to 5 hard-surface lit courts and over 500 members. In the winter, all 5 courts are covered with a heated bubble. The Club operates on a not-for-profit basis on leased land from the Municipality of West Vancouver. We offer private, semi-private and group lessons to adult members, junior members and junior non-members. Under the direction of our Social Directors and volunteers, we host a number of events throughout the year including a weekly Sunday afternoon Social Drop-in, the Annual Club Championships, the Celebration of Tennis, a mixed doubles round robin, the Bollywood Calcutta and the Doubles by the Shore summer tournament.

WEST VANCOUVER TRACK & FIELD CLUB
Established in 1995, the West Vancouver Track & Field Club is the premier, high performance track and field club serving the North Shore and Sea-to-Sky regions. Our athletes have achieved podium success at the provincial, national, and international levels of competition, and have even set world records.

WEST VANCOUVER FOOTBALL CLUB
Our club has a history of excellence. Since it began in the early 1920's, the Club has been involved in the promotion, organization and development of soccer at the youth level in the Municipality of West Vancouver. The adult portion of our club has a tradition of producing championship teams, and now we are combined into one club, West Vancouver Football Club, WVFC. The goal of WVFC is to create a comprehensive "cradle to grave" soccer program that will enable players of all ages and playing levels the ability to enjoy the Beautiful Game. The Club has an office in the building at Ambleside Park facing Marine Drive at Fred Jopson Field.

EVERGREEN SQUASH CLUB OF WEST VANCOUVER
The Club is member-owned, and we currently have 5 International singles courts, a doubles court, a fitness centre, a self-serve kitchen and lounge and men’s and women’s change rooms, with plans for expansion in the coming year. We offer a variety of programs for singles and doubles players, including probably the best Junior program in BC. Our Club Pro, Thomas Brinkman, is ranked one of the top players in Canada and one of the best -- if not the best – coach in the country. We also have an on-site, full-service pro shop, complete with stringing service.

OCEAN AMBASSADORS PADDLEBOARDING
Ocean Ambassadors connects people with the ocean, and engages them on the issue of plastic pollution. We offer teachers a short curriculum for use in their classroom, which culminates in a group paddleboarding experience and an interactive, on-the-beach workshop. Students in grades 2 and 5 through 8 as well summer camp participants get their minds challenged, their feet wet, and their hearts inspired.

WEST VANCOUVER LAWN BOWLING CLUB
Organized lawn bowling games were established in West Vancouver long before World War I on tennis greens located near the Navvy Jack Thomas house. Early enthusiast Charles Nelson (West Vancouver’s first Reeve) built a private green on his residential property as Sunday play was forbidden on the District’s property. In June 1931, the Men’s Club built a green in the area south of the original West Vancouver United Church. They added a clubhouse in 1934. This was later expanded in the 1980s, and the green was repaired and restored. Club membership and participation grew steadily and WVLBC has hosted many local tournaments, V&D, Provincial and National Championships and local charity fundraisers.

WEST VANCOUVER FIELD HOCKEY CLUB
Founded in 1971, WVFHC has grown its junior, adult and travelling divisions over the years, combining into one Club offering field hockey to players of all ages and abilities. We are the largest field hockey club in North America, with over 2,000 field hockey enthusiasts, from beginners to National Team players and every stage in between. Most of our programming occurs on West Vancouver’s Olympic standard water-based Rutledge field. We love introducing people to one of the world’s most popular sports!
